5 Changes To Your Life That Could Reduce Your Arthritis Pain

Blog

If you have been recently diagnosed with arthritis and frequently have to deal with arthritis pain, you should consider making the five changes listed below. These five changes could reduce your arthritis pain and make it easier for you not only to just get through each day, but to enjoy your day as well.

#1 Do Range Of Motions Exercises Daily

If you don't stretch out your body on a daily basis, your muscles and joints will start to get stiff. This will make your arthritis pain worse. The more flexible and bendable your joints and muscles are, the easier it will be for you to use them.

Try incorporating range of motion exercises throughout your day; they should only take a few minutes to complete. You can do them when you wake up in the morning or as you relax and watch television at night. The key is to stretch your body every day.

#2 Start Doing Water Exercises

It is important to exercise when you have arthritis. Exercise will keep your muscles strong, which will reduce the pain in your joints. However, if even exercising is painful, you should start doing water exercises a few times a week. You can simply swim laps, or you can take an aerobic exercise class; just make sure you work out a couple of times a week.

When you exercise in the water, the water supports most of your weight, lessening the stress your joints experience. This makes it easier for you to move around and work out, especially if you arthritis.

#3 Keep Your Weight In Check

Next, if you are overweight, you need to sit down with your doctor and develop a diet and exercise plan that will help you lose the extra pounds that you are carrying around. Carrying around extra weight can stress out your joints, which can exacerbate your condition.

#4 Change Up Your Diet

Your arthritis flares up when your body becomes inflamed. One way to fight inflammation in your body is by eating foods that have anti-inflammatory properties. Try to increase the amount of vegetables that you eat, and try to incorporate more fish and olive oil into your diet. These types of food can help your body regulate itself and could help you with your goals of keeping your weight in check.

#5 Seek Chiropractic Treatment

Studies have shown that chiropractic treatment can increase the mobility in your affected limbs and improve your overall health.  Intensive chiropractic sessions can help you get your arthritis under control, followed by a regular check-ins with your chiropractor. However, if you are having a flare-up, you should avoid chiropractic treatment until the flare-up passes.

Try out each of the suggestions above for two weeks at a time, and pay attention to how you feel after implementing each suggestion. For more information, contact Dr. Jason B Kaster DC or a similar professional.

Getting My Back Fixed

One day, in the middle of helping my kids to clean up the house, I lifted a box weird and threw out my back. It was frustrating, but I assumed that it would go away on its own. I was wrong. After trying everything I could think of to resolve the problem, my back still hurt and I couldn't stand up straight. After a week of suffering, I made the decision to meet with a chiropractor. He inspected my back, took x-rays, and figured out that I had slipped a disc. I started a grueling physical therapy routine, but after a few days, things started to improve.
